Viva o Vinho! Our Favorite Wine Pairings From the Cellar

Rio de Brazil has carefully hand selected world-class wines from some the finest wine growing regions on earth. Our beautiful walk-in wine cellar houses the perfect wine pairings for your meal. Please allow us to offer a few suggestions for your next trip to the restaurant.

Salad Bar Wine Pairings

For our cheese and bread selection we recommend our J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay. This Monterey County California crisp white delights with aromas of peach and tangerine and offers fresh flavors of honeydew and honeysuckle. With its subtle oak finish this chardonnay is the perfect pairing for cheese and bread as well as the seafood selections at our salad bar. If you prefer a more medium bodied white, we suggest our Casillero. This rich Chilean white offers a palate of ripe tropical fruit and has a long oaky finish.

For our wide array of vegetables and salads at the bar, we recommend a dry white such as our Montinore Pinot Grigio. Coming from the Willamette Valley in Oregon, this bright and acidic white wine has a lovely mix of apple and pear with a hint of melon. For those looking for a tangy white with less acidity we suggest our Kenwood Sauvignon Blanc. This very crisp white wine delivers with notes of lemongrass and passionfruit and has a sharp finish.

Meat Wine Pairings

For our grilled red meat offerings, we suggest either a bold or medium red wine. Our Carnivor Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautifully bold Californian choice. This rich red hits the palate dry with hints of chocolate and blackberry jam and finishes ripe and rich with a toasted oak undertone. If your preference is a more medium bodied red then you will enjoy our Red Rock Merlot. Also a California wine, Red Rock is rich in blackberry and raspberry fruits with a sweet vanilla finish.

For our grilled white meat offerings, we recommend our Kim Crawford Pinot Noir. This Marlborough, New Zealand wine is smooth and elegant with nuances of black cherry and red currant. The finish is oaky and tannic. If you prefer white wine with your white meat selections we suggest our Columbia Chardonnay. This white wine lends itself to light pear and apple flavors and finishes smooth and spicy.

Dessert Wine Pairings

For our decadent dessert options we suggest a sweet Port. This bright dessert wine is complex yet smooth, with flavors of honey, fig and ginger. Spicy to the nose, this Port finishes with notes of toasted nut. Another excellent dessert pairing would be our Italian Santero D’Asti Moscato. This beautiful creamy Moscato offers well balanced flavors of rose, honey and apricot. It’s sweet finish makes it the perfect ending to a magnificent meal.
